Deadpool and Wolverine are out in the wild after years of wait. The movie hurls both the titular characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a thing that became possible because of two things: the multiverse exists in MCU now and Disney, the owner of Marvel Studios, acquired the assets of 20th Century Fox, which includes Marvel’s mutant superheroes (X-Men and everyone else) and Fantastic Four. Not surprisingly, there are several prominent cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine to the point, bursting at the seams with them.

Deadpool and Wolverine puts Wade Wilson or Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds) and Logan or Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) into an uneasy buddy movie dynamic. When Wade’s universe is threatened by the TVA (Time Variance Authority) and its representative, Mr. Paradox (played by Matthew Macfayden), he joins forces with an alternate universe Wolverine (even grumpier and a bigger alcoholic) to not only save his universe but also the entire multiverse from a powerful villain called Cassandra Nova (played by Emma Corrin).

The movie has an explosive and exciting third act that promises interesting things in MCU‘s future. We have a detailed explanation of Deadpool and Wolverine‘s ending, so make sure to check it out. Anyway, let’s dive into the major cameos.

Spoiler alert!

Biggest superhero cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine

As mentioned above, the movie has lots of cameos. If you are a typical MCU fanatic, many if not most of them are going to delight you. Some last for several scenes, while others are limited to a single shot. Here is every major cameo in the movie:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor

While Mr. Paradox shows Deadpool several realities, in one of them, Chris Hemsworth as Thor is cradling the body of a dead Deadpool with his mask off and is weeping. When Deadpool asks Paradox about it, he quickly changes the subject but not before saying, “It hasn’t happened yet.” So is that Deadpool’s future?

Hulk

There is one brief appearance by Hulk when Deadpool is searching for a suitable Wolverine to partner with. It doesn’t look like Mark Ruffalo’s version, and I suspect it was a nod to Edward Norton’s Hulk from The Incredible Hulk (2008).

Henry Cavill as Wolverine: One of the most surprising cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine

This was interesting. Ever since Jackman said he would retire as Wolverine after Logan (2017), Henry Cavill has been one of the most popular fan-casts for the role. As Deadpool is searching for Wolverines, he comes across Cavill, bearded and all, in the role, who promptly goes on to kick Wade back into his own timeline. We do not know whether this scene promises anything or whether Jackman will stay as MCU’s Wolverine.

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm or the Human Torch

Chris Evans met Deadpool and Wolverine in the Void, where all the variants that may endanger the multiverse end up. However, he did not appear as Captain America, his more popular role, but as Human Torch, his earlier Marvel role that he played in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). Evans’ was an extended, hilarious cameo that ended up in a grisly fashion when Human Torch’s flesh was melted by Cassandra. Evans’ is one of the biggest cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Sabretooth, played by Tyler Mane

Tyler Mane played the role of mutant Sabretooth, Wolverine’s half-brother in X-Men (2000) when he was a member of Magneto’s (Ian McKellen) Brotherhood of Mutants. Liev Schreiber essayed the role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Now Mane has returned to portray the role for a too-brief period. He invited Wolverine to fight and it looked like it would be a long one, until Wolverine opened his throat by a single slash of his adamantium claws.

Ant-Man (or his corpse)

Cassandra’s base of operations in the Void is a repurposed corpse of Ant-Man or Scott Lang’s giant form. Deadpool delivers perhaps the best joke of the movie while looking at it: “Look, Paul Rudd finally aged.”

Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool

At one point in the movie, Deadpool and Wolverine are confronted by the Deadpool Corps, a veritable army of Deadpool variants from various timelines. At the head of the Corps is Lady Deadpool with her blonde hair tied up in a ponytail emerging out of the mask. The actress playing the role is none other than Blake Lively, best known for the TV show Gossip Girl (207-2012) and as Reynolds’ wife. They are one of the most-loved Hollywood couples and have a sweet relationship.

Wesley Snipes as Blade, Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Channing Tatum as Gambit

We are still waiting for the Mahershala Ali-led Blade movie, but the first Blade in the MCU is… Wesley Snipes. In case you don’t know, Snipes is the OG Blade, playing the role in Blade (1998), Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004). In this movie, he is one of the resistance fighters against Cassandra along with Jennifer Garner as Elektra and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Garner played Elektra in the 2005 movie of the same name, which remains one of the worst things in existence. Tatum, who was last seen in rom-com Fly Me to the Moon, was going to actually appear in his own Gambit movie, but it was scrapped.

Dafne Keene as Laura or X-23

Dafne Keene played the role of X-23 in 2017’s Logan, in which Jackman’s mutant protects against those who wish to harm her. She was also with the resistance in Deadpool and Wolverine and fought with the duo against Cassandra’s forces. Her appearance, short though it was, was one of the best cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine.
