While the announcement of any Nintendo Direct event is always met with a lot of enthusiasm, the June 2024 edition is shaping up to be particularly special. With Nintendo Switch entering its twilight years, gamers are excited to see what new titles will define its final chapter.

As with any other showcase, fans and analysts are also making their Nintendo Direct June 2024 predictions, hoping to see some much-awaited announcements and significant updates to existing games. The anticipation is sky-high, and the Nintendo Switch community is buzzing with potential possibilities.

For a long time, Nintendo has used June Direct to set the stage for its holiday season offerings. As announced previously, this year’s presentation will follow suit, providing a roadmap for the latter half of 2024 and beyond.

In this comprehensive list, we will cover everything you need to know about this upcoming event, including the Nintendo Direct June 2024 date, where to watch it and detailed predictions about the games that might make an appearance.

What to expect from Nintendo Direct June 2024: 6 reasons you shouldn’t miss the event

1. Metroid Prime 4

One of the most anticipated Nintendo Switch titles for 2024 is undoubtedly Metroid Prime 4. Announced back in 2017, the year Nintendo Switch was launched, this game has seen a tumultuous development cycle, with Nintendo even having to restart its development at one point.

However, if recent leaks are to be believed, we might finally get a substantial update or even a release date for this highly anticipated first-person sci-fi game. Fans are already excited about exploring new, unknown planets as Samus Aran in this upcoming addition to the long-running alien-hunting franchise.

2. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess remakes

For some time now, fans have been hoping to see the HD remakes of The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. After all, rumours about these remakes have been haunting the Nintendo Switch community ever since the console’s launch.

Now that we might just be in the final year of the Nintendo Switch’s life cycle, it only makes sense for Nintendo to give fans what they want. Given the success of previous Legend of  Zelda remakes such as Link’s Awakening, these games are likely to be well received. Any fan who has yet to experience these two masterpieces should be hyped about playing them on the Switch as these games were the pinnacle of the franchise before it fully went in the ‘open-world’ direction. Some longtime Zelda fans even consider The Wind Waker to be the best game in the series, courtesy of its unique setting and exhilarating story.

3. Dragon Quest III HD- 2D Remake

A remake is all set to breathe new life into the classic Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) Dragon Quest III, combining nostalgic gameplay mechanics with modern visual enhancements. For the uninitiated, Dragon Quest III was originally released in 1988 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and is known to have played a pivotal role in shaping the RPG genre.

The new HD-2D version promises to retain the original’s charm while introducing stunning visual updates utilising an art style similar to the Octopath Traveler series. As exploring a pixilated 2D world in full HD on a Switch OLED will be pretty incredible, we can’t wait to get more insight into this highly anticipated remake.

4. Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remakes

Last year, Nintendo released Metroid Prime Remastered, a beautiful remaster of the first game in the popular franchise. It was met with a highly positive response from critics and fans, with particular praise being bestowed upon its incredible visuals and quality-of-life changes.

Ever since Metroid Prime Remastered became a success, conversations about its sequels getting a similar treatment have caught some heat too. Some insiders have even suggested that Nintendo has been sitting on these remakes for about two to three years. If that’s the case, it is high time Nintendo released the two remakes, if for no other reason than to help newcomers prep themselves for Metroid Prime 4.

5. Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Z-A is set to be the next chapter in the innovative Pokémon Legends series.

Following the success of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, this new entry will further delve into the history of the Pokémon universe with a focus on a new region – Kalos, which was last seen in Pokémon X and Y. Fans will, once again, get to explore the wilderness that came before all those fancy cities of the mainline series were ever a thing. Not to mention, Mega Evolutions are all set to make a comeback!

While the game is set to launch in 2025, Nintendo is likely to drop some new information about it during its June Direct 2024 event.

6. Will there be a potential surprise announcement?

As it is Nintendo’s nature to surprise fans with something unexpected, it’s smart to keep an eye out for the same during Nintendo Direct June 2024. For our money? We are betting on a new Mario game being the surprise announcement at this month’s event.
