All You Need To Know About The ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Video Game, Based On The Hit Horror Franchise

The much-anticipated Ash vs Evil Dead video game is set to be a major highlight for horror and retro game enthusiasts in 2024. Boss Team Games and WayForward Technologies recently announced this as a part of the RetroRealms series, which also includes a Halloween game, and is set to offer classic slasher fans a nostalgic and thrilling experience.  

In the Ash vs Evil Dead game, players will take on the role of Ash Williams, the chainsaw-wielding hero known for defeating the Deadites. The game is a 2D platformer with beat ’em-up mechanics mixed into it.  

This is a different direction for the games based on the Evil Dead franchise. The last game we saw, released in 2022, was an asymmetrical multiplayer title.  

The latest trailer showcases its gameplay, detailed visuals and much more. Let’s take a look at everything that the upcoming game, Ash vs Evil Dead has in store for fans.

This is a pixel art game where all characters have a pixelated look to them. We should say, though, that the game looks stunning with those effects. The detailed design and all the characters look incredible.

Thanks to its unique yet minimalistic design, the movement and gameplay of Ash vs Evil Dead look responsive. There are some faithfully designed bosses showcased in the trailer, and even Ash looks cool with that chainsaw attached to his hand.  

‘Halloween’ is not far behind either

Alongside the Ash vs Evil Dead game, the developers are releasing a Halloween title in which gamers play as none other than Michael Myers. Both the characters have some incredible power-ups and combat moves that can be seen in action in the trailer.  

Instead of choosing the best of both worlds, the developers decided to develop games based on both franchises.

Both games will be available to purchase for PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 18 October 2024.  

The digital version of these games can be bought separately, while the physical copy would include both games. For fans who pre-order these games, there’s even a pre-order bonus, if they pre-order the Ash vs Evil Dead game, they get the Kelly Maxwell skin as a bonus. Those who preorder Halloween will get Laurie Strode skin as a pre-order bonus.
