Yes, the much-awaited Final Fantasy XVI PC port is finally here, but it will not be as easy to run this game as you might think. The Steam store page for Final Fantasy XVI lists two sets of system requirements for this upcoming game. One is for 720p 30FPS and the other is for 1080p 60FPS. 

We are sure there are gamers out there with massive rigs equipped with 4K and 1440p monitors wondering, “What about us?” Maybe the developers will reveal the remaining specs later down the line, or closer to its launch, but for now, the 1080p specs should help you speculate if this game will run at 4K on your PC or not.

Even though running it at 720p requires 8GB of VRAM or more, here’s hoping it’s better optimised than the PC port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. 

‘Final Fantasy XVI’ PC gameplay, release date and more

Just like any other modern instalment in this long-running franchise, Final Fantasy XVI PC will be a third-person action RPG. Players can take part in battles in real-time, opt for normal attacks, use elemental abilities and dodge incoming attacks. 

Compared to the previous instalments, the combat in Final Fantasy XVI is much faster, and thanks to the PC version’s improved performance, it would feel even more fluid. 

The release date for Final Fantasy XVI PC is 17 September 2024. The game will be available to purchase on Steam and Epic Games Store. Fans will be able to choose from two different editions: a Standard Edition that only comes with the game and a Complete Edition, which will include all the DLCs.
