In a world where Apple and Samsung have achieved a duopoly over the smartphone market, Xiaomi is one of the few brands trying to disrupt with its innovative solutions and shockingly low prices.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the recent example that challenges the exorbitantly priced Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max with superior hardware and cutting-edge software enhancements. The same is true for the midrange segment where Xiaomi’s phones are hard to beat in terms of overall value. Xiaomi knows its customers’ needs and serves them accordingly.
Hence, it isn’t surprising to see a lot of Xiaomi phones often making it to our list of the best smartphones in a particular category now and then. But that doesn’t mean you can simply buy any phone wearing the Xiaomi badge. After all, Xiaomi also makes mistakes and a couple of their offerings don’t edge out the competition.
This is why we took it upon ourselves to handpick the best Xiaomi phones you can buy in 2024. While the recently announced flagship models like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 are obvious contenders, there are a few Redmi branded phones that also make it to our list. They may not offer the most aggressive pricing on some models but the sheer value these phones offer is simply unmatched. Note that we are not including some of the upcoming Xiaomi phones rumoured to release this year.
Hence, without further ado, let’s explore the top Xiaomi phones you can buy in 2024.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the company’s absolute best smartphone, and when compared with its rivals, it might even beat all of them. In fact, in our last comparison, it had won fair and square against the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is not only among the fastest Android smartphones money can buy, but also one of the best camera phones to bag this year. It boasts four 50-megapixel sensors forming the rear camera system. With the Leica collaboration, you get filters and modes that replicate the brand’s camera lenses and colour science.
You also get a large 6.7-inch 1440p resolution AMOLED display with support for 68 billion colours, 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. A 5,000mAh battery powers the whole system and Xiaomi provides support for 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. You also get the HyperOS experience based on Android 14 out of the box.

The Xiaomi 14 is the next best phone that comes out of its factory. In essence, it offers largely the same experience as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra but in a compact package and at a much more accessible price. It directly competes with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and iPhone 15.
The Xiaomi 14 is the second phone from the brand to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. A compact 6.3-inch 1200p resolution display with 120Hz refresh rate, 68 billion colours and 3,000 nits of peak brightness makes it easier on the eyes. The compact dimensions also restrict the battery capacity to 4,600mAh but you can still charge it at 90W with the wired charger and at 50W wirelessly.
You also get a triple 60-megapixel camera system with the Leica tuning and lenses. The phone runs on HyperOS UI, which is based on Android 14.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is currently the best handset under the Redmi sub-brand and is a solid contender in the midrange segment.
It might be the priciest phone in the Redmi Note series but it is unarguably the best-built phone to ever wear the Redmi badge. While the 6.67-inch curved edge 1.5K resolution AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus is a big draw, the rest of the specifications are quite tempting. You get the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset for strong midrange performance and a 5,000mAh capacity battery to back it up.
What’s even better is the 120W wired fast charging solution that fills up the battery from 0-100 per cent in 19 minutes. The 200-megapixel main camera has also gotten good reviews from tech pundits and consumers alike.

For those willing to stay in the lower end of the midrange segment, the Redmi Note 13 Pro is another great phone from Xiaomi. It offers most of the thrills of its ‘Plus’ sibling but with a few corners cut to achieve accessibility.
Some of the star features of the Redmi Note 13 Pro include a 200-megapixel main rear camera sensor, a 5,100mAh capacity battery, a 67W wired fast charger and a reasonably fast Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. Redmi equips it with a 6.67-inch 1.5K resolution AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate for the display but unlike the pricier variant, the Gorilla Glass Victus protective layer is flat at the edges. The phone has been running on MIUI 14 based on Android 13 but Xiaomi promises an update to HyperOS UI based on Android 14 soon.

The Redmi Note 13 series extends to the lower reaches of the budget segment with the Redmi Note 13 5G. It offers a nice balance of style, performance and value, something which not a lot of its rivals can offer.
Based on the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 platform, the Redmi Note 13 5G offers decent performance for an affordable smartphone. Some other star features include a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, a 108-megapixel main rear camera and a bold new design with flat edges. The 33W charging solution may not be the fastest but for the price, that’s manageable. Xiaomi is offering it with Android 13-based MIUI 14 but the phone is in the queue to receive the HyperOS update based on Android 14.

It is rare to see a 5G smartphone in the entry-level segment but Redmi has somehow managed to offer a nice package. The Redmi 13C 5G is Xiaomi’s best value-for-money product currently.
Based on the MediaTek Dimesnity 6100+ chipset, the Redmi 13C 5G offers decent performance for an entry-level phone. Although you miss out on an AMOLED display, the Redmi 13C 5G offers a 6.7-inch 720p IPS LCD panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Paired with a 5,000mAh capacity battery and Xiaomi’s MIUI 14 interface based on Android 13, you can expect a full day’s worth of stamina on a full charge.
The 18W charger takes up close to 1.5 hours for a 0-100 recharge cycle but the Redmi 13C 5G makes up for it with its 3.5m headphone jack, an expandable storage via microSD card and a fingerprint sensor. You also get a 50-megapixel sensor for the main rear camera.
