For fans of the Transformers franchise, the possibility of a new video game based on the series has always been exciting. Recent rumours suggest that not one but two new Transformers games are in development at Microsoft.
Fans had been waiting for information like this following Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company that previously published several well-received Transformers titles.
Activision Blizzard did quite a commendable job releasing some decent-quality games such as Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. While the above-mentioned games are no longer available for purchase anywhere, fans can’t help but imagine if Microsoft will do anything to raise the status of games based on this franchise from mid-budget pastime titles to triple-A behemoths.
Let us dig through this rumour and find out all we can about these new Transformers games being developed by Microsoft.
Rumor: Microsoft Studios Is Working On Two Transformers Video Game Projects

Rumours can be tricky; usually, we only get half-baked information. This means that gamers should take all the details with a grain of salt.
This rumour about the two Transformers games being developed by Microsoft says nothing about their gameplay or budget. It only suggests that Microsoft Studios/Xbox Game Studios is working on them, and they are codenamed “Transformers.”
Not even a studio is mentioned, as numerous developers come under Microsoft Studios. It can be anyone; for all we know, fans might finally see a Transformers game developed by 343 Industries, the people who made Halo Infinite.
As we wait for any official confirmation on these games, we hope that finally, after all these years, there’s some developer out there working with a large budget to design the best Transformers interactive experience we have ever laid our hands on.
The rumour suggests these games will be released by the end of this year, which sounds somewhat improbable. If Microsoft planned to release them by the end of this year, they would have already announced them. This also opens up a slight chance that these games are just remasters or remakes of some popular older titles being released on modern platforms. These kinds of games can even be shadow-dropped to massive fanfare.
For platforms, we expect the titles to be released on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox and PC. They might even make their way to Sony PlayStation 5, given that Microsoft decided to announce the upcoming Indiana Jones title for Sony’s console. Not releasing Transformers games on all the platforms possible would be a mistake, as this franchise has a massive fanbase and would do well if gamers on all platforms had access to them.
While this is just a rumour for now, for the sake of all the Transformers video game fans out there, we hope this happens.
