We admit that Tsim Sha Tsui harbourfront, especially Avenue of Stars has the best front-row seat for the fireworks. That said, this also makes it one of the more popular choices so expect a huge turnout of fellow fireworks watchers. However, be sure to get there early enough to ensure you have the best view possible. The good news is that the harbourfront is an entire stretch in Tsim Sha Tsui so there is plenty of space but still anticipate the crowd.
HarbourChill is another great choice to see the fireworks. Ever since this promenade finished construction, it’s been hosting several events, so its popularity has skyrocketed. But it’s a spacious space and there are artworks and installations along the promenade. Plus, it provides a different angle of the fireworks than the one you’ll usually see from the Kowloon aka Tsim Sha Tsui side.
Another spot in Wan Chai to see the fireworks is Golden Bauhinia Square, right next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. No one really goes around the area (except some tourists), unless there’s an event happening next door. The restaurants are a few metres away so make sure to bring enough snacks and drinks. We recommend popcorn while enjoying the gorgeous view of the fireworks.
West Kowloon Art Park provides plenty of open spaces and lawns to enjoy the fireworks. It’s also located near M+ with various dining options all around. We recommend spending the day around the area and taking in a bit of the art and culture. At night, make sure you’re already at the front for the best view of the show. Otherwise, you’d have to squeeze your way through the crowd.
The Central Ferry Pier harbourfront is spacious because events are regularly held nearby. But expect plenty of fireworks enthusiasts as well. For the best vantage point, make sure to get there early. Or if you don’t mind paying a little, you can get on the Hong Kong Observation Wheel right before the fireworks start. Now, that’s a view!
The East Coast Park Precinct is the newest spot to get a great view of the fireworks. We already know that Tsim Sha Tsui and Central Harbourfront will be packed so this is a great alternative if you can’t brave the crowd. The only caveat is that the area is not as spacious as the others on this list but there is a 100-metre-long breakwater that extends to Victoria Harbour.
Tamar Park provides a great view of the fireworks. It boasts a vast open space with plenty of greenery. It is perfect for lounging and snacking before the fireworks. Or if you’re lucky and there aren’t too many people, you can watch the show while sitting on the grassy lawn.
