Lana Del Rey’s first famous relationship was with Scottish singer-songwriter Barrie-James O’Neill. The two met in 2011 and hit it off immediately. The duo began writing music together and were spotted out together on many occasions. Del Rey talked about writing music with and about O’Neill in a 2012 interview with Just Jared.
“When I met my boyfriend … we always say that the entire time we were writing for each other, but we didn’t know it until we met each other,” she said, adding, “So, you feel like even though you didn’t know the person then, all the songs are for them now. That’s romantic.”
