Following the global popularity of Korean titles like the Netflix hit Queen of Tears and the tvN series Lovely Runner, the K-entertainment industry is all set with their upcoming list of K-dramas releasing in the second half of 2024. From the zombie horror K-drama All of Us Are Dead season 2 to the action thriller Gangnam B-side, these new titles will keep you glued to your screens.
Leading the list is the global hit K-drama series Sweet Home, which is all set to return with its third instalment. One of the best and highly anticipated upcoming K-dramas of 2024, Sweet Home season 3 will once again see ‘son of Netflix’ Song Kang fighting off monsters as the powerful protagonist Cha Hyun-soo. Since the premiere of its first season in 2020, Sweet Home has been a worldwide phenomenon. So much so that season 1 was viewed by over 22 million subscribers worldwide in the first four weeks of its release. Following this, season 2 reached greater heights of success in 2023. However, season 3 is presumed to break all previous records and merge on top. Described as the “grand finale” by Netflix, Sweet Home 3 is all set to premiere worldwide on 19 July 2024.
Meanwhile, Bae Suzy will be seen drawing star power to the romance drama All The Love You Wish For. A Lee Byeong-heon directorial, All The Love You Wish For tops the list of most anticipated upcoming Netflix romance K-drama shows to release in the second half of 2024. The series also marks the on-screen reunion of Bae Suzy and Heirs star Kim Woo-bin after eight years, the actor duo’s last project being the 2016 hit Uncontrollably Fond.
Lest we forget the Lee Min-ho starrer Pachinko, which is returning with season 2 on Apple TV Plus in 2024. One of the best period Korean dramas to look forward to in August 2024, the upcoming second instalment of Pachinko will focus on protagonist Sunja (played by Kim Min-ah), her Korean immigrant family’s life across four generations after the Japanese colonisation, and her encounter with a Zainichi Korean merchant (Lee).
